Data may be incorrect or missing, or conditions may have changed, as often happens in beaver habitat areas. Always be aware of your surroundings and current
conditions and use good judgment. Water levels are often different between lakes, creating moving water between them, which can be dangerous.

Locate and use the portages whenever possible.

Data Sources:

Campsite and Portage data used with permission from Ben Strege of PaddlePlanner.com.

Thank you to Ben Strege for carrying on the legacy and updating the data originally compiled by Dr. J. Archer Harris in the original Portage and Campsite
Database (PCD) and improving upon its presentation with your excellent, most useful, and ever evolving website, paddleplanner.com. Thanks to
Dr. J. Archer Harris for initially creating the database and giving users a platform to submit campsite and portage reviews and for compiling the data.
This has proven to be a revolutionary concept in canoe country camping, and given countless back country campers, like myself, the courage to explore further,
armed with a bit of comfort and knowledge as well as a sense of online community. Thanks to the many "users" that have submitted the campsite and portage
reviews throughout the years. In particular, Mike Wyganowski (Joe_Schmeaux) and QPassage (Bo Bowers) and many other members of the online community at
Quietjourney.com. Also thanks to Dr. Ulf Runesson of Lakehead University for many of the unconfirmed campsites that were once hosted on Legacyforest.ca
that made their way into the database. Some of the unconfirmed campsites are real gems not to be overlooked!

I used this data for the BWCAW entry points. The data may be a bit dated and not completely accurate, use discretion when using this data.

Secchi data provided by retired Quetico Park Biologist Brian Jackson as part of a Quetico Lakes Sportfish survey report from 2018. Secchi is measured by lowering a
white disc into the water measuring the greatest depth(in Meters) visible, to give an indication of water clarity. Quetico's lakes have quite a range of
Secchi readings from crystal clear waters(Argo) to heavily tannin stained water.

Portage and Campsite data for the Turtle River White Otter Lake Provincial Park came from two different sources.
	- Canoe Route(Ignace to Mine Center) Turtle River Provincial Park - A Map produced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Township of Ignace.
-Campsite and Portage locations were manually transferred from the map and may not be entirely accurate. Use caution when using this data.
	- Path of the Paddle (https://www.pathofthepaddleassociation.com/maps?Trail=All) Provides mapping for a huge route from Fort William, Ontario to Whiteshell
Provincial Park, Manitoba. Their Maukinak set of maps traverses through a good portion of Turtle River Provincial Park. Georeferenced raster maps are
provided free to download. I was able to load these individual georeferenced Raster maps into QGIS and create a vector layer for the campsites and Portages.
I would still use caution when using this data and treat it as not being vetted to the same extent as the Quetico or Boundary Waters data.

Most of the underlying data layers were downloaded from the following two aggregate hosts of government data for the State of Minnesota and for the Province of Ontario.
	Minnesota Geospatial Commons(https://gisdata.mn.gov/)
	Ontario GeoHub (https://geohub.lio.gov.on.ca/)

List of contributing government agencies(May not be all inclusive, though I tried to include all that were specified as a source):
Esri, GMI, CIA (The World Factbook)
	U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
Michigan Dept. of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR)
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
	National Interagency Fire Center
DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife - Fisheries Unit
Minnesota DNR - Division of Lands & Minerals
U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Commerce
Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry
	Ontario Trail Network (OTN)
	Ontario Railway Network (ORWN)

Map Icons - I swapped out the default icon set (InsightMapCreator.dat) for the icon set available from anglingcharts.com
	(https://www.anglingcharts.com/insightmapcreatordat.html).
To this set I added some of my own self created icons for Pictographs, Outfitters, Entry Points and Canadian Highways.

Also, thanks to Lowrance and Navico for creating and hosting the free software for compiling the map(Insight Map Creator) and the ability to purchase such awesome
hardware (Chart plotter/fish finders) to view the data in an interactive way.

A great deal of data manipulation was done using the incredible and free GIS software: QGIS (https://qgis.org/). This was really the swiss army knife that allowed
me to meld data from all the different sources together to be included in the map(s).
